Inside the Postojna Cave
The region of Inner Carniola extends from Idrija in the north via Postojna to Ilirska Bistrica in the south. It is characterized by an impressive karst landscape, which has created magical underground labyrinths. Well-known sights of the region are the Predjama Castle and the famous stalactite cave in Postojna, which has lured about 40 million visitors from all over the world since their exploration. There are many other caves worth visiting, such as the water cave in Planina or the Škocjan caves. Nature-lovers should also make a detour to Lake Cerkniško, the largest lake in the region.
