The hut is located just below the summit of the 1. 641 m high Monte Matajur, in the middle of the green valleys of Natisone.
The hut is part of the "Monte Nero" section of the Italian Alpine Club (CAI) of Cividale del Friuli (Udine). It is a cozy establishment with 24 beds, divided between a large dormitory and several rooms, and 2 rooms with a total of 120 seats. Simple dishes are served using herbs collected in the meadows and forests of Matajur.
