Old Square House

Tolmin is an old town. As a region it was first mentioned in documents from 1063 to 1068, and   first recorded in administrative sources in 1192, as a town or „square“ in 1820.

Our house, the "House on the Old Square" was built in 1713. That was the year of the "Tolmin Punt", the revolt of the peasants against the landlord, since that revolt the situation of the peasants in Tolmin has improved.

The "House on the Old Square" stands on a small square behind the Hotel Dvorec at city centre. It was completely retrieved after two earthquakes in 1976 and 1998, and in 2022 the house was renovated for tourist purposes.

The "House on the Old square" is located a 10-minute walk from the beautiful beach at the confluence of the Tolminka and Soča rivers, a 25-minute walk from the Tolminka river gorge "Tominska korita", 6 km from a wooden sacred place, the Memorial Church of the Holy Spirit in Javorca, which bears the European Heritage label, 13 km from the Kolovrat Open Air Museum, a hill with a beautiful view of Tolmin, 30 m from the Brajda sports ground and 50 m from the main centre of Tolmin, where the Tolmin Museum is located, with taverns and cafés nearby.  The bar, 10 metres from the property distance is daily open for breakfast.
