Natural Reserve "Batthyanyfeld"
The area between Königshof and Bruckneudorf forms a unique biotope network with flowing and standing waters, reed zones, wet meadows and alluvial forest and is home to a variety of flora and fauna. The heart of the park is the 30 hectare nature reserve "Batthyányfeld". The bird life in particular uses this area as a breeding and feeding ground. After all, the ornithologists of Burgenland have recorded about 120 bird species in the vicinity of this nature reserve. Due to its geographical location between the March-Donauauen and Lake Neusiedl, this area offers an important stepping stone and resting place for migratory birds and is therefore important for bird protection. Birdwatching Binoculars or spotting scope at hand - the “Batthyányfeld” is an important habitat for reed birds. Here you can find reed- and sedge warblers, herons, Savi´s warblers and many others. This residual wetland area on the Leitha, situated between the Donauauen in the north and Lake Neusiedl in the south, is an important stepping stone for water birds. The best months for bird watching are from April to October.
