The church, which was built before year 1300, offers many special features and attractions:
- Some of the oldest frescoes in Slovenia are found in the church and in front of it.
- In stylistic terms, the church covers time periods from Romanticism to Baroque.
- It represents an important cultural and historical monument and is a listed building.
- The Church of St. John the Baptist is thought to have been built as early as pre1300.
- The church is located on a rich historical site – archaeological finds, dating from the 1st to the 5th century, have been discovered next to the church.

OPENING TIME- May (Friday, Saturday and Sunday): from 9 am to 6 pm
- June, July, August (every day): from 9 am to 9 pm
- September (Friday, Saturday and Sunday): from 9 am to 6 pm
- Out-of-season tours are possible by prior arrangements

- Guided tour of the bell tower: 2,5 € per person
- Church + guided tour of the bell tower: 4 € per person
- Free of charge for Bohinj Mobility Card holders
- Tickets are being sold in the church store.

The church is accessible by regular bus lines from Ljubljana via Ukanc.- Bus timetables (exit station: RIBČEV LAZ)
Getting there
In Bohinj we can come by car through Bled, through Pokljuka, Soriška planina or Jelovica. We can reach Ribčev Laz with a car from the direction of Bohinjska Bistrica.The bus passes from Ljubljana through Bled.
From Ljubljana and Villach (via Jesenice) and from Nova Gorica we can come by train.
And a car-train can be taken from Nova Gorica, from Most na Soči and from Podbrdo.
Parking
A smaller parking (max. 1 hour) is located right next to the church itself, while the other larger car parks are located near the church.Coordinates
