Sava Dolinka
If you have visited the Nadiža Waterfall in the Tamar Valley, you witnessed the birth of the Sava Dolinka River. It disappears immediately after and flows underground through the Planica Valley to the Zelenci natural reserve, where it appears again, now in the form of a lake.
The Sava Dolinka River merges with its “sister” Sava Bohinjka River in Radovljica, which together form the longest Slovenian river, the Sava River. You can follow it to its end: 221 kilometres on Slovenian territory, and then a further 700 kilometres to the mouth of the Danube River.
