Ledine Intermittent Lake
Lake
· Upper Carniola
· 850 m
Under the village of Rateče at the entrance to the Planica valley, the Ledine Lake fills with water during every heavy rain in spring or autumn.
During the summer, the lake dries up and the grass grows very quickly, which is mowed by farmers for strewing in their barns.
The reason for bifurcation is that there is a watershed between the Sava and Drava waters close to the Ledine Lake. When large quantities of water collect in the Ledine Lake, it spills over the watershed.
In winter, the lake repeatedly freezes and can be used for ice skating.
