Museum of Apiculture
Enter the world of the Carniolan grey bee and beekeeping in the land of beekeepers. Radovljica's museum houses the most important collection of the history of Slovenian beekeeping.
In the museum, located in Radovljica old town, you will learn about centuries old tradition of beekeeping and life of the bees. Carniolan grey bee is an indigenous bee, protected in Slovenian territory. Due to its biological specialities the Carniolan grey bee is one of the most popular bees in Europe and among Slovenians it has long held a special place. From spring to autumn you can observe bees in an observation hive.
Another part of the museum is dedicated to the developement of beekeeping in Slovenia, together with the old equipement and important beekeepers from the area.
An important part of the museum shows a collection of nearly 250 hand-painted beehive panels. They represent a unique folk art and are testament to the special relationship that Slovenians have with bees. This is the largest exhibition of this particular Slovenian folk art. The oldest known painted beehive panel, dating from 1758, is also on view.

January and February: the museum is opened from Tuesday till Friday from 9.am untill 4pm

Public transport
Bus station is 5min walk form the museum building, as well as train station.
There are regular buses to Radovljica from Ljubljana, Bled, Kranj, Kranjska Gora.
Getting there
The museum is located in the 1st floor of Radovljica Mansion. It is the biggest building in Radovljica old town. The mension has an elevator as well.
Parking
Public parking is located at the entrance to the old town. From the parking it is a 5-min walk to the museum.
