On the northern slope of Črna prst we see a black soil on which the mountain got its name. On the south side just below the summit is the Zorko Jelinčič mountain hut, which is open in the summer season (late June - mid-September).
The slopes above the Baška Grapa, especially flower carpets on Črna prst, which is rightly referred to as the Botanical Garden of Europe, are a real floral asset that for centuries impresses botanists and visitors of the mountain world. Among mountain Porezen and Črna prst grows endemite Moehringia villosa, a tiny white flower that blooms from May to the end of July. In 1778 it was discovered by botanist Karl Zois.
