The square is named after the Slovenian poet, writer and playwright Tonet Čufar, who was born in Murova, Jesenice.
Toneta Čufarja Square is the central social space of Jesenice. Culture, entertainment, education and leisure activities meet here in one place. In summer, visitors cool off by the fountain, while in winter the square is dressed in fairy white. The Tone Čufar Theatre, the Municipal Library, the Železar Cinema, Radio Triglav and, last but not least, the Jesenice Gymnasium, historically very important for the town as one of the few Art Nouveau buildings in the municipality, are located in the immediate vicinity of the square. The square is the venue for numerous events throughout the year, one of the most famous being the Meteorita science fiction festival in April, while in the theatre, for the 32nd year in a row, the Festival of Amateur Theatre, better known as Čufar Days, is making its history.

Public transport

The public bus stop is practically on the square, and the train station is not far away, making the square a great starting point for sightseeing.

Getting there

The square is located on the main road through Jesenice, so it's impossible to miss it no matter which side you come from (Kranjska Gora or Slovenske Javornik).

Parking

There is a large free car park behind the square (next to the theatre).
