Kaunertal Glacier
In the sparsely populated Kaunertal, southeast of Landeck, skiers find a ski resort that is known for its idyllic nature, plenty of fun slopes on natural snow and almost a bit of isolation. The Weißseespitze – the valleys landmark – is always in sight.

Unique glacier ski resorts

Three impressive glaciers in over 3000 m of height promise superlative skiing opportunities on 200 km of slopes. The Hinterlux glacier is Austria’s only ski resort that provides the possibility to ski all year long. The winter season in Sölden begins in September and ends in May. The ski resort includes the “big 3” (three mountains that are higher than 3000 m) – that is unparalleled in Austria.

The ski resort Kaunertal glacier is slightly more remote, but is one of Austria’s highest ski resorts and guarantees lots of snow. Austria’s highest ski resort is The Pitztal glacier and Rifflsee (2440 m). The biggest glacier ski resort and Austria’s number one is the Stubaier glacier that is also regarded as particularly family-friendly.

Skiing with kids

Some ski resorts attract visitors with particularly family-friendly offers and slopes. The Murmlipark in Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis provides good conditions for young beginners to learn how to ski in a playful way.

During the children’s sport weeks the ski resort of Hochoetz in Oetztal and Hoch-Imst offer free ski courses. Moreover, the ski resorts of Pitztal and Tyrolean Oberland offer a special Bambini free pass.
