The cycling tour to the Savica Waterfall mostly runs along the main road that slightly ascends the entire time. When you come to the park, leave your bike there and hike to the waterfall. Spring when the snow is melting, or after heavy rainfall is the time when the waterfall shows all its glory. It springs up in the open in two sections amidst the steep wall of Komarča. The higher part of the waterfall measures 78 m, the lower one 25 m. Two great Slovenian poets-France Prešeren and Valentin Vodnik dedicated their verses to the waterfall. The water to the waterfall runs from the Seven Triglav Lakes Valley and from the rocky slopes of Pršivec. The waterfall is quite majestic after a rainy period and even in dry periods it never runs dry. After a long dry period of time, only the left and lower part of the waterfall runs down. A beautiful rainbow stretches above the pool below the waterfall in sunny weather and when the foamy water falls to the pool. Return along the same path.

Car park at the Savica Waterfall

Turn-by-turn directions

The trail leads us to the end of the Bohinj valley and the most popular waterfall in Bohinj. The tour starts at the Vogel – Savica Waterfall crossroads in Ukanc. Cycle on asphalt road in the direction of the Savica Waterfall. After a couple of hundred metres you will notice the WWI cemetary (we recommend a visit) on your left, and then continue along the 4 km road to the car park near the waterfall. Leave your bicycles at the car park and walk to the viewpoint at the Savica Waterfall. After the visit return to the car park. Return to the starting point along the same road.
