The trail runs mostly on unpaved forest roads. Forestry machinery can be found on these roads, so caution is advised when cycling. Pay particular attention on the descent towards Goška Ravna and to Lipnica.
IMPORTANT: The Jelovica Plateau is criss-crossed with forest roads, skidding trails, crossroad and spurs and is difficult to navigate. For easier orientation, we recommend using the GPS track on your phone or navigation device and a map with the routes plotted on it.
The tour starts at the Rovtarica forestry hut on Jelovica. At the crossroad, turn left (direction Vodice, Martinček). The path climbs gently on fine macadam and soon we reach the Selško Kuplenjska mountain, which you leave on your left. Continue cycling along the "main" forest road. You will encounter many diversions along the way, but remain in the direction Vodiška planina. After 8 kilometres of cycling, you will reach a large crossroad, which directs you towards Vodiška planina (right) and Goška Ravna (left). Turn left and start descending on a nice macadam road, which is a bit steeper in places. After 5 km you cross the Goška Ravan pasture, where you can stop at a mountain lodge (note: the lodge is not open all year round). Continue descending until the point where macadam briefly gives way to asphalt. Before the beginning of the village Spodnja Lipnica turn left back to the unpaved road. A cycling signpost (Radovljica 5.5 km) will help you. There is a short climb on a macadam path, which changes back to asphalt at the top. Turn left and follow the asphalt road, which descends gently. After about 500 m, join the main road Radovljica - Kamna Gorica - Kropa and turn left. Continue straight along the main road and after a few hundred metres you will come to a beautiful 2-kilometre-long descent that leads to a bridge over the Sava River. Looking up to the right, you can already see Radovljca and the bell tower of the Church of St. Peter. Cross the bridge and start the last climb of the day. After 100 metres, turn right (towards the cemetery) and continue the climb, which takes you over the railway (the station is on your right). After a few dozen metres of climbing, turn left and a narrow road leads you into the centre of Radovljica's town centre, which is definitely worth a visit. You will finish your cycling tour here and take a break for coffee, homemade ice cream or traditional food in one of the restaurants.
