This easy circular cycling tour is also appropriate for families with older children. It is also pleasant during the summer months because the major part of the tour is routed along shady sections (except for the descent from the village of Drežnica to the town of Kobarid).

Start in the centre of Kobarid and cycle along the main road towards the town of Bovec. At the end of Gregorčičeva street go down the road towards Kamp Lazar. Continue along the cycling road along the Soča River in the direction of the village of Trnovo ob Soči until you reach the Otona Pool (entry point for kayakers). From here, ascend back to the main road Kobarid – Bovec, cycle to Trnovo ob Soči, turn right towards the camp and cross the footbridge across the Soča River. Continue along the two-track forest gravel road to the village of Magozd and further to the village of Drežnica and descend back to Kobarid along the main road.

Author’s recommendation

During the summer months, there is a Hop On Hop Off shuttle bus running to the village of Drežnica which provides free-of-charge transportation of bicycles. By taking the bus during the hottest months you shorten the tour and avoid the difficult ascent. Shuttle bus timetable: https://www.soca-valley.com/en/soca-valley/sustainable-mobility/#Kobarid.
