Turn-by-turn directions

After visiting the villages of Šmartno, continue to the main road at the car park. Turn sharp right towards Dobrovo. In the middle of Dobrovo, in the crossroad continue uphill and after 200 metres ride to the Dobrovo Castle. After the castle, turn right past the entrance to the castle at the end of the building and left to the narrow asphalt road. When the latter starts descending, turn sharp right downhill and arrive to the road towards Fojana in a few minutes. Cross the square in the middle of Fojana to the right and continue along the right, which takes us left and towards the west right behind the square. After 2.5 km of asphalt, pay attention to the unpaved branch to the right. The latter descends steeply through the vineyards to the north, continue towards the petrol station that you see in front of you. When you arrive to the asphalt road, turn left and drive for 700 metres, then turn right uphill. Follow the signpost for the Church of St Marjeta. You should check the map since there are many roads and cart roads scattered over the hills. Right below St Marjeta, turn sharp right and right past the church start climbing a 300-metre-long hill and continue in the same direction when your reach the top. After 1,5 km, return to asphalt road and continue the tour straight on. Continue for 5 km on a mild upward slope and then quickly descend to Golo Brdo. Follow the signposts for Golo Brdo. Then you reach Idrija. In Golo Brdo, turn sharp right  to the north and soon after the village drive from asphalt to the unpaved road. Continue along the left side of Idrija upwards towards Britof. Continue along the unpaved road which soon ascends. The 5-km road includes 450 metres ascent to Lig. When you come to the main road, turn right and turn sharp right at the end of the village towards the pilgrimage Church of Marijino Celje. You can also follow signposts. After visiting the church with two bells, continue north behind the walls of the church. Here you can join the Goriška Brda I1 trail and continue the tour to Tolmin (Soča Valley) or back to Šmartno (Goriška Brda).
