JULIANA BIKE - stage 4: Bovec - Tolmin
Author’s recommendation
The trail is marked with blue signposts and markers indicating a mountain biking loop. We recommend using the Krn Map, issued by Planinska Zveza Slovenije (Alpine Association of Slovenia).
This stage involves the highest difference in altitude and runs on the most demanding surfaces along the Juliana Bike trail. Less prepared and skilled bikers are recommended to divide this stage into two stages and spend one night at the Koča na planini Kuhinja mountain hut (make a reservation in advance!).

Turn-by-turn directions
Rest and have a snack because you are headed for a steep climb along the rough trail to Pretovč Saddle, where you will probably have to walk alongside your bike for some time. Descend across the Zatolminske planine pastures to the Tolminka Valley. Take some time to visit the Church of the Holy Spirit in Javorca, the most beautiful monument dedicated to World War I in Slovenia. Continue along an unpaved road above the Tolminka Gorge, past the Tolmin Gorges that are worth a visit. Soon you will arrive at Tolmin.
