The 3.8 km swim section is held in the clear waters of the glacial lake Bohinj, starting in the small village Ukanc and traversing the entire length of the lake towards the finish at Stara Fužina. The bell tower of the succursal St. Paul’s Church, which stands at the edge of Stara Fužina serves as a great orientation point during the swim. Average water temperatures in September are around 15 °C, but lower temperatures of 13 °C are also possible. The unique shape of the lake enables spectators to follow the athletes from multiple small peninsulas.

Turn-by-turn directions

This is a traverse swim across the entire length of Lake Bohinj. You need to drive to Ukanc and cross River Savica. Turn right after crossing the bridge and walk towards east for approximately 200 m. When you reach a small crossroad, take the left trail and follow the signs that mark the lake area. After 200 meters you will reach the start point. When starting the swim or other water activity (canoe, kayak, SUP or similar), keep an eye for the church bell tower on the eastern bank of Lake Bohinj. You exit the water at the small peninsula and in front of Kramar caffee.
