TEN RULES FOR CROSS-COUNTRY SKIERS
The FIS (Federation Internationale de Ski) has issued ten rules for cross-country skiers:
Every cross-country skier must behave in such a way as to avoid endangering or injuring anyone.
You must obey markings and warning signs and run in the direction indicated on cross-country skiing trails.
On double and multi-lane trails, the right lane must be used. Cross-country skiers in a group must run on the right-hand lane one after the other.
Overtaking is allowed to the right or left in the clear lane or off the lane. The front runner does not have to leave the lane, but must move back if he/she considers that he/she can do so without danger.
In meetings, each runner shall keep to the right.
When overtaking or being overtaken by another skier, we must keep our poles close to our bodies.
Especially on steep trails, each runner must adapt his/her speed and movement to his/her knowledge, terrain conditions, traffic density and visibility. He must also maintain a sufficient safety distance to the runner in front of him. If necessary, he must also throw himself to the ground if he can avoid a collision in this way.
Anyone who becomes stuck should step out of the running lane. A runner who has fallen should leave the running track as soon as possible.
In the event of an accident, everyone has a duty to render assistance.
Everyone, whether an eyewitness or a participant in an accident, must give his/her personal details at the accident, whether or not he/she is at fault.
The opening hours of the cross-country skiing trails are between 8.00 and 17.00.
