Julian Alps:Bohinj Card offers free transport and other benefits.
Have a great meal in Ukanc, i.e. at Ukanc Pizzeria, or at Orlove glave Inn on Vogel and at Merjasec mountain hut, where you can also enjoy dishes with the Bohinjsko/From Bohinj certificate.
In the past, Ukanc was a grazing pasture. As the legend says, the name "Ukanc" was formed from the phrase "u konc" meaning "at the end of the world", because in the past people believed that the world ended below the walls of Komarča.
A military cemetery is located near the car park in Ukanc. You can visit graves and a chapel that reminds us about the atrocities of World War I.
Archaeological site on Vogel: More than 3500 years ago, people used to live, graze cattle or dig ore in the area of Vogel and the Julian Alps. This has been proven by an exceptional discovery, made by two amateur archaeologists (Janez Bizjak and Miran Bremšak) right along the ski slope on Vogel. The missing piece of history of settlements in the high mountain area proves that this part of the Julian Alps was also interesting in Iron Age. The archaeologists found the remains of the ore-bearing cave and settlements as well as some items, including a fibula from Iron Age. The high mountain world of the Julian Alps was populated from Bronze Age, in the Roman period and the Early Middle Ages, which has been confirmed by the newest archaeological findings on Pokljuka, in the Triglav mountain range, Komna and the South Bohinj Mountain Range.
Iron Trail on Vogel: The high mountain Iron Trail runs along the afore mentioned archaeological sites that have been characterised by a rich cultural and natural heritage. A part of the high mountain Iron Trail is also the trail from Vogel to Komna that runs along the newly found sites dating back to Bronze Age and the Early Middle Ages.
