From Hill to Hill around the Lake
Lake Bled is surrounded by monadnock hills acting as guards and closing access points to the lake. Every single hill represents a popular and intriguing point of interest. Our path “From Hill to Hill around the Lake” connects these individual endpoints into a single unit – a ring of higher grounds above Lake Bled providing different viewpoints. Dobra gora is less known, less crowded and provides shelter for the animals. Straža offers a fitness trail and a ski slope, Mala Osojnica and Ojstrica are a paradise for photographers. And if you would like to take in the natural beauty and not meet many people on the way, then Stan would be your choice, where you can witness the famous Bohinj railway line from above. Višce provides the foreground of Bled Castle – an icon that does not need any introduction. All in all, the “From Hill to Hill” path provides a real joy for enthusiastic hikers. You need to be in a fairly good shape, as you will walk on this path for 5 hours and cover a total height difference of 766 m. This path can be walked in one go as a round trip or in stages.

LAKESIDE PROMENADE - DOBRA GORA - STRAŽA - MLINO - MALA OSOJNICA - OJSTRICA - VELIKA ZAKA - STAN - VIŠCE - BLED CASTLE - LAKESIDE PROMENADE
The starting point of the hike is in Bled town centre towards Dindol and Selo. Follow this road until you reach a pass on the northern side of Selo, where a steep trail takes you all the way to the top of Dobra gora. The way down will take you on the western slope to Megre between Dobra gora and Straža. At the bottom you will find signposts directing you along the southern and eastern slopes to the foothill of the Straža ski slope. Follow the path to end up on top of Straža, where you will see the upper chair lift station. Continue towards the west for a few dozen metres and take the trail downwards to Mlino just before the viewpoint. From here take the path beneath Vila Bled towards Zaka. At a signpost along the path to Osojnica you will face the hardest of the ascents to Mala Osojnica. From here follow the path west and in the saddle go downwards towards Zaka to the rocky head of Ojstrica. A short, but steep trail leads you to this rocky peak offering stunning vistas. From the top descend back to Velika Zaka. Continue on Kolodvorska cesta street towards the railway station. Just below the top, take the trail above the railway tunnel to Stan and follow the picturesque southern rim to see the Giant Spruce, and from there take the wide road to Razgledna cesta street. Follow this street above the railway tracks to reach Aljaževa cesta street and then take Kolodvorska cesta street in the direction of Višče. A short, but steep rise behind the last houses on Za žago street will bring you to the plane of Višče where you will pass the Muhrov monument and across the grassland you will descend beneath the western slope of Castle Hill. There are several trails on the way and all of them will lead you to the carpark beneath the castle and to the castle entrance. The way down will take you towards the parish church of St Martin, from where it is only a couple of minutes’ walk to the centre of Bled.
