Lakeside Panoramic Route
Lake Bled is a glacial lake and the only lake in Slovenia with an island. The path around the lake is one of the most popular walks. The newly formed Lakeside Panoramic Route has three ascents practically from the lake’s surface to a height of around 150 metres and thus requires a bit more time and fitness. Straža, Ojstrica and Bled Castle offer recognisable and distinct views of picturesque Bled. The lake, the island and the castle look different from each of the three viewpoints. Straža offers a fitness trail and is packed with adrenaline, Ojstrica offers tranquillity and picturesque photo motifs, and last but not least, Bled Castle offers a view into both history and culture.

LAKESIDE PROMENADE - STRAŽA - MLINO - OJSTRICA - VELIKA ZAKA - MALA ZAKA - BLED CASTLE - LAKESIDE PROMENADE
The starting point of the hike is in the centre of Bled towards the Straža ski slope. Just before the lower chair lift station follow the signpost pointing to a steep trail towards the south. The properly arranged trail will get you to the plane of the hill. Follow the path to the top of Straža, where you will see the upper chair lift station. The descent takes you along the ski slope to the brink of the lake shore. Follow the path around the lake, past Mlino, and continue your way to Zaka via Vila Bled. The markings along the road to Ojstrica will take you on a not-so-steep but wide path to the rocky head of Ojstrica in the west. A short, but steep trail leads you to this rocky peak offering stunning vistas. From the top descend back to Velika Zaka. Follow the path around the lake past Mala Zaka in the direction of Castle Hill. At Villa Zlatorog you will see a signpost pointing to an unpaved road with a slight slope towards the castle. There are several trails on the way and all of them will lead you to the carpark beneath the castle. You should definitely go into the castle and enjoy some time at the museum. The way down will take you in an easterly direction towards St Martin’s Church. From here, it’s only a few hundred metres to the centre of Bled or the Lakeside Promenade.
