It is a thematic, natural-ethnographic trail. From the Logar farm in the lower part of the valley it leads through forests, past farms and over meadows to the Rinka waterfall.

With a walk through the Logarska valley we approach the mountains, symbolically and physically. The century-old Logar linden tree, forests, ancient homesteads, cottages and alpine pastures confirm that the locals have attuned their lives to nature.

A well-maintained, undemanding path along the stream leads us to the source of the Črna and on past rock boulders. Signs and signposts direct us through forests, along the edge of pastures to forestry and charcoal huts, along streams to waterfalls.

The seven-kilometer-long one-way trail invites you to a beautiful hike, brings you closer to the starting points for mountain tours to the peaks of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps, and offers walkers shorter, content-rich sections of the trail and beautiful views. Part of the path to the Palenk waterfall and the circular botanical path next to the Mountain Lodge are also arranged for people in wheelchairs.

Walking along the entire route takes one to 2 hours, depending on the pace and purpose of the walk. If you want to observe and explore the attractions along the way, you are planning a full day tour for the route in both directions with stops and refreshments. Of course, you can choose one of the shorter options from different starting points, which are marked along the road and parking lots along the valley.

Safety information

Look out for slippery wooden footbridges, stairs, roots or stones.

Caution will not be superfluous even when crossing the main road.

Do not sit on the fences and do not damage them - be considerate of the work of the locals. Do not disturb livestock on pasture.

Tips and hints

We want you to experience the Logar Valley in all its diversity and in a pleasant atmosphere. But remember that you are guests here. Let the valley remain unchanged even after your departure.

To access the trail, you can use several starting points, where there are parking lots, stops or tourist facilities:

- The beginning of the trail is by the bridge over the Logar farm.

- From the TIC or the Plesnik Hotel, one leg of the route goes to the Palenka waterfall. The other joins the main path along the well-maintained dry riverbed, which leads down to the source of the Črna, or up to the Rinka waterfall.

- At the Eco House At the crossroads is the Fairytale Forest, which complements the content of the thematic trail with stories. On the way to the Rinka waterfall, you can step a hundred meters higher along the main road.

- The parking lot next to the Dom planincev is the starting point for visiting the botanical trail or for continuing the trail past the charcoal hut towards the Rinka waterfall.

- The path leads past Planšarija Logarski kot and past the parking lot under the Rinka waterfall.

Turn-by-turn directions

150 meters further from the Logar farm there is a car park behind the bridge, and in front of the bridge there is the beginning of a thematic trail through the Logarska valley. Take a walk over the wooden footbridge and along the forest path along the Črna stream to the spring under a sloping boulder. Along the creek and by the spring there are corners where you can recharge with the energy of nature.

The path continues along the often dry riverbed, over the torrent peak and then along the edge of the meadow to the forest hut. At the edge of the meadow, relax with a view of the peaks of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps.

The forest path leads you to a crossroads, where one leg of the path directs you to tourist information and the Palenk waterfall, and the main path further along the valley leads to the Rinka waterfall. While walking through the forest, it is worth stopping at the content boards and getting to know the interesting things of nature and the history of the Logarska dolina landscape park. When you cross the road for the first time, you can turn into the Fairytale Forest, which complements the content of the trail with stories. However, you can follow the forest path, which takes you to the giant juniper and on to the circular botanical part of the path.

Parking and an open space in front of the Lodge of Mountaineers offer several options. If you decide to continue the route, the monument and presentation of mountaineering in the Kamnik-Savinja Alps invite you to the mountain trail. The signpost of the thematic trail directs a step along the valley towards the Rinka waterfall. The decision is yours.

Continuing in the direction of the Rinka waterfall will lead you to the charcoal hut and the occasional charcoal mound, and further along a dry riverbed full of gravel, which was caused into the valley by torrential streams. When you cross the road again, you are already at Planšarija Logarska kot. Leave the breathtaking views of the walls of Planjava and the neighboring mountains behind as you walk through the forest towards the Rinka waterfall. Cross the road twice more and follow the dry riverbed. When you come across water again in the riverbed near the Rinka waterfall, know that the Rinka waterfall is not far away.
