Old mining route
The old ore route is the route along which iron ore used to be transported from the Sava Caves, a former iron ore deposit, to the blast furnaces on Stara Sava.
The route starts in the heart of Jesenice, in the old town center called Stara Sava, where you will be greeted by a beautiful restored square surrounded by historical structures very important to Jesenice, full of tradition and culture - there are the Gornjesava Museum, Ruard's Manor, Barracks, crabs, in the middle square, an old chimney has been preserved, which is the most vivid reminder of the fact that Jesenice is an iron-making town. From Stara Sava, the route continues to the other end of the town to the Kosova manor and then to the oldest part of Jesenice - Murovo. From there, the path begins to climb towards the chapel on Pejce, to the church of St. Cross at Prihoh and finally to the Sava Caves from Korelnov rovov. Of course, we should not forget the wonderful daffodil meadows that follow the path from the first ascent towards Planina pod Golico.

Elements of the former smelter's settlement are still present there today: a manor house, which houses a museum with an iron and mining collection, a church, a worker's apartment house, a blast furnace with ancillary facilities, a rake and a coal storage shed. The route goes through Jesenice, past the old part of the Murova settlement with the Kosovo manor house, along a forest path to the hamlet of Pejce, further through the villages of Prihodi and Planina pod Golico to the Sava Caves. Along the way we will find chapels and signs, replicas of mining tools, "glajžne" - followed by driving along the way, the entrance to the mine.
