The Krpan Trail
The Krpan trail pot is a 110 km long, circular hiking trail marked with signs, which follows the paths that Martin Krpan, the hero in the story of the writer Fran Levstik, walked.
On it, travelers get to know places important because of events in recent and distant history, numerous church cultural monuments with rich furnishings, castle ruins and preserved mansions. They can see a series of karst attractions up close: springs and sinkholes, intermittent lakes, caves and sinkholes, and characteristic ecosystems. Recreational hikers can complete the route in three days, but it is also possible to complete it in several shorter stages. The route is suitable for cyclists and horse riders, and in most cases it can also be used by other means of transport.
