Trail 6 - PRVAČNCA
Prvačnca is one of ten Cherry Blossom Trails, which are named after old Brda cherry varieties. The trails are marked by brown signposts, yellow and white circles and yellow arrows on roads, rocks and trees.
Prvačnca is a scenic loop trail going up and down the vineyard-strewn Brda hills. It connects Dobrovo, Plešivo and Medana. The hilly landscape allows us to enjoy beautiful views of the Brda villages and the surrounding area.
The trail starts and ends at the Dobrovo Castle, which is interesting from the historic, cultural and artistic point of view, since it houses a museum and a gallery. It then leads us past the Klet Brda winery, the largest producer and exporter of Slovenian wines.
Along the way, we can stop at several viewpoints providing picturesque views of the Brda villages: Vipolže with its renovated Renaissance villa Vila Vipolže and Medana, which is particularly interesting because of the birthplace of the poet Alojz Gradnik and cultural worker Ludvik Zorzut.

Turn-by-turn directions
The trail starts at the Dobrovo castle. Signposts direct us on a path towards Klet Brda winery. At the bridge over the Reka river below the winery, turn left and walk along the river until you reach the bridge below Fojana. Follow the two signposts directing you left. At the next signpost, turn right and enter the forest. The trail starts ascending relatively steeply through the forest and leads you to the former gravel road for Fojana. Make a left turn until you reach a crossroads, where you turn right. Nice views of Medana surrounded by vineyards open up. The trail continues through a forest with pine trees and then starts descending among the vineyards into the valley of the Fedrih stream. Then a climb to the hamlet of Jordano in Plešivo follows. Walk among houses to the main road, where you turn left and continue walking along the main road until you reach a chapel-shrine in Medana at the crossroads for Dobrovo, Vipolže and Ceglo. Follow the signpost pointing right in the direction of Vipolže and Ceglo. Soon you will reach a viewpoint above Vipolže with an information panel giving you descriptions of the nearby villages. The trail then makes a left turn and continues below the road towards the hamlet of Berjač in Medana. Descend among the vineyards into the valley and soon after that start climbing again towards Medana. After about 1 km of climbing you will come to the Church of the Assumption of Mary in Medana, where you can refill your water bottle at a drinking fountain. Afterwards, walk along the main road towards Dobrovo. At a large gravel parking lot a signpost will direct you left for Kozlink. The trail brings us to a cell tower shaped like a cypress, where you can read an information panel with descriptions of villages and a panel with inscribed cardinal directions, mountains and villages. The starting point at the Dobrovo castle is just a short walk away.
