Along the tour you can admire the Soča River in all its dynamics, freshness and beauty. From the Great Soča Gorge onwards the trail moves somewhat away from the riverbed. It will take you past the secluded homesteads surrounded by old fruit trees and wonderful views. Along this cycling tour you will be able to enjoy in splendid views of the Trenta Valley with high mountains in the background. Your warm-up will be over when you will reach the end of the gravel road and when you will start ascending along the paved road towards the village of Na skali where you will be rewarded with even nicer views. Form here on continue along the gravel road past the ramp towards the V plazeh Mountain pasture. The world around you will become more and more alpine and the air will get thinner, whilst the road will become worse. The V plazeh Mountain pasture is secluded, abandoned and hidden in the amphitheatre of the rarely visited peaks of Mt. Mala Tičarica and Mt. Velika Tičarica, Lepo Špičje Ridge, Mt. Travnik and numerous other summits. You can take a short hike from the mountain pasture (45 min) to Mt. Čisti vrh where you can enjoy in a magnificent panoramic view of the highest mountains of the Julian Alps (Mt. Kanjavec, Mt. Triglav, Mt. Razor, Mt. Prisank, Mt. Jalovec and Mt. Mangart).
Author’s recommendation
Even though the tour does not end on the top of the mountain and enev though the V plazeh Mountain pasture is abandoned you will mountain bike to the centre of the Triglav National Park at the altitude of 1,548 m. You can also treat yourself with a hike along the trail to Mt. Čisti vrh (1875 m) which will stun you with a 360° view of the highest peaks of the Julian Alps. When the days are hot we recommend you to start the tour early in the morning. You should also make sure to bring a sufficient amount of food and drinks because there are not many restaurants along the trail. You can replenish your water supply next to the road above the Great Soča Gorge in the village of Mišja vas where you can find a sign Pozor, mačke (“Warning, cats”) :). The tour is appropriate for mountain bikes.
The road is drivable in nice weather when there is no snow.

This cycling tour starts at the Prijon sport center in the village of Čezsoča. Turn left at the parking lot and continue to the bridge. Before you reach the bridge across the Soča River you will be able to notice numerous signs on the right directing you onto the gravel trail towards the village of Trenta, which is also known as the Soča Trail. Keep cycling along the left bank of the river, at first next to the river and then along the paved ascent, until you reach the end of the settlement. Cross the small bridge across the stream and you will already reach the somewhat poor up-and-down gravel section of the trail through the forest. Cross the bridge across the Soča River and continue shortly along the main road until you reach the bunkers. Cross the footbridge back to the left bank of the Soča River and continue along the gravel trail. From the Great Soča Gorge onwards you will have to overcome a short steep ascent past the village of Mišja vas. When you reach the plateau continue along a somewhat more level terrain and shortly thereafter descend towards the village of Soča. Cycle along the gravel trail past the remnants of World War I fortifications. After overcoming a gentle ascent you will reach the end of the gravel trail where you will first have to turn onto the paved road and then uphill to the right towards the village of Na skali. Keep ascending until you reach the end of the paved road and continue along the gravel road past the ramp. You will soon be faced with the last part of the ascent where the gravel road becomes worse and occasionally steeper. Ascend along the nicely routed mule trails to the abandoned V plazeh Mountain pasture where you will be able to notice the building of the Triglav National Park in the background which you can only reach along the footpath. You can continue along the road a little bit further from the mountain pasture until you reach a clearing. Here you can decide to ascend to the sightseeing Mt. Čisti vrh or to take a rest and return along the same way you came from to the village of Čezsoča. On your return you can refresh yourself in the Soča River.
