Žabijski vrh you can continuously enjoy in views of the Tolmin Basin. After you cross Mt. Baba, where you can find the register book, you can enjoy in views of the Tolminka Valley and the Tolmin Mountain range all along the way to the summit. This dynamic trail leads through an unpopulated and peaceful forest area which offers pleasant relaxation and shadow, whilst the abandoned hay barns and small rippling creeks pleasantly liven up the hike.
Author’s recommendation
During the hot summer months we recommend you to start the tour early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
Certain steep sections of the trail require caution, especially after rain.
If you continue from Mt. Tolminski Triglav towards the Lom Mountain pasture you will have to be especially cautious in the area where the trail crosses steep ravines because there is a great danger of slipping on wet leaves or snow. This section of the trail is not secured.
The trail is partially routed along an easy marked hiking trail. Use of the hiking trails is at your own risk.
Tips and hints
From Mt. Tolminski Triglav you can visit the Lom Mountain pasture where you can buy milk, curd and cheese during the grazing season.
{You can decide not to ascend on Mt. Tolminski Triglav but to descend from Mt. Žabijski vrh along the circular trail back to the starting point.

Turn-by-turn directions
When you leave the gravel parking lot behind the Tolmin Cinema, turn on the main road Tolmin – Most na Soči and follow it towards the village of Most na Soči. Immediately after you cross the bridge across the Tolminka River, turn to the left and follow the paved trail leading to the local road towards the village of Žabče. Follow this road to the centre of the village where you have to turn to the left and continue along the road towards the villages of Zadlaz-Žabče and Tolminske Ravne. Follow this road for a while and, when you reach the sign for the Koča na planini Razor Mountain hut, start following the trail to the right which leads into the forest where you have to continue along the marked trail winding uphill which soon joins a somewhat wider trail leading to the junction for the Koča na planini Razor Mountain hut (right) and Mt. Žabijski vrh (straight forward). Continue straight ahead along the unmarked trail leading across Mt. Baba to the top of Mt. Žabijski vrh. At the summit, turn towards the north, cross the ridge and descend down the trail. Continue along this trail and keep to the right as the trail starts to gently ascend. After that, continue along a short descent and, when you reach the junction (markings on the boulder), turn to the left and continue along the trail towards Mt. Tolminski Triglav or to the bench where you can find a box with the register book. Return along the same trail until you reach the junction where you have to continue straight downhill. Follow the only trail which completes this tour at the junction for Mt. Žabijski vrh. Return to the town of Tolmin along the same trail you came from.
