Crossing Triglav from Mojstrana (worthwhile detour: Peričnik waterfall!!) Aljažev hut, Prague trail, Triglavski Dom na Kredarici, trail to the summit, Triglavska škrbina trail , Dolič hut, Zeleno jezero (Green Lake), Koča pri Triglavskih jazerih. Descent to the lake (boat ride from C Square near Ukanc to Ribčev Laz). By bus to Bohinjska Bistrica. Return by train to Jesenice.

Alternating good fixed trails and via ferrata. Endurance is required.

Author’s recommendation

If you can, you should go outside the Slovenian holidays if possible (they end at the beginning of September).

Safety information

Routes via ferrata are rather easy if there is no snow or if they are wet. Often iron pins are available for pulling up.

Caution: weather conditions on Triglav can differ considerably from the valley.

On my trip it was very foggy only in the summit area, but above all an extremely strong wind made changing clothes on the ascent of Triglav a violent act.

Tips and hints

Bohinjiska Bistrica is a good starting point for train excursions (Lake Bled or towards the Soča Valley).

Turn-by-turn directions

Ascent from Mojstrana on the road or parallel paths to the Aljažev Hut. Afterward, first on a wide path: do not miss the turn-off to the left to the entrance of the Prague Trail! The last stretch to Triglavski dom is easy. Summit climb to Triglav is not very difficult, but exposed in places. Descent via Triglavska škrbina etc.

Good trails and paths, clear markings, many iron pins on the via ferratas. In fog, however, critical orientation in places.

The ascent from the Aljažev hut to the summit is very busy. The descent to the 7 Lakes is much quieter.

Equipment

Air climbing gloves are, of course, indispensable.

Bivouac sack for quick weather change or fog.

A via ferrata set is rather dispensable in dry conditions
