Return to the cart track along the same trail you came from. Follow the signs for Mt. Mrzli vrh which will take you to the Grmuč Mountain pasture.
At the mountain pasture use some imagination to ascend to the well-visible sightseeing peak called Grmuč which offers splendid views. From the top of this peak turn towards the east and follow the ridge with an unmarked but well-worn trail towards Mt. Vodil vrh. You can find this trail after crossing the pasture fence. The trail continues into the forest and leads to a field gate. Climb over the field gate and descend to the cart track which takes you across the grassy slope to Mt. Vodil vrh. Descend to the village of Zatolmin along a steep trail which is initially routed along the pasture fence which it later crosses.
In wet or very cold weather we advise you not to descend to the village of Zatolmin because the steep trail towards the village of Zatolmin can become icy and slippery.
Certain sections of the trail along the ravine of the Sopotnica Stream are somewhat exposed and require caution. The descent from Mt. Vodil vrh to the village of Zatolmin can become slippery in wet weather.
Because of the varied terrain, the ascent and the descent along the described trail require good footwear and trekking poles (for those who are used to walking with trekking poles). Trekking poles can be of great help especially when descending to the village of Zatolmin.
From Mt. Grmuč you can also ascend to the adjacent Mt. Mrzli vrh instead of Mt. Vodil vrh. Return to the valley along the same trail you came from. In this case, directions are much simpler.
If you have the option of using two cars, you can park one in the village of Zatolmin and the other in the village of Gabrje. In this way you save yourself the walk to the village of Gabrje.
