Start the tour on the Kuhinja Mountain pasture and ascend past the Leskovca Mountain pasture towards Lake Lužnica. The gradual ascent along the Lužnica Valley will be followed by a steep ascent to the Prag Mountain pass and by a short ascent to the top of Mt. Batognica. You should ski in the most favourable direction according to snow conditions.

Author’s recommendation

When you finish skiing from Mt. Batognica, you can also climb to the nearby Mt. Vrh nad Peski.

Turn-by-turn directions

Start at the parking lot in front of the Kuhinja Mountain pasture and follow the summer trail past the Kuhinja and Kašina Mountain pastures to the Leskovca Mountain pasture. When snow conditions are good, you can start ascending on skis from the very beginning. If this is possible, ascend from the Leskovca Mountain pasture directly uphill towards Mt. Stador. Join the summer trail until you reach the level section in the amphitheatre between Mt. Stador, Mt. Rdeči rob, Mt. Škofič and Mt. Maselnik. Continue to the left towards the mountain pass and plan your descent in accordance with the current snow conditions. A view opens from the snow-covered lake in the Lužnica Valley all the way to Mt. Vrh nad Peski. Hike along the valley to the foothills of the Prag Mountain pass, climb on this mountain pass in a zig-zag pattern and continue to the left towards the top of Mt. Batognica. The top of this mountain is more like a table than a top of the mountain. Views of the already completed trail and of the surrounding summits are extremely luxurious.

You should ski down the same trail you came from. Ascend from the Prag Moutain pass beneath Mt. Vrh nad Peski where you will be able to enjoy in great skiing. If you would like to get as high as possible on the mountain pass above the lake, you have to choose a higher skiing line. When the conditions are good, you can ski at least to the Leskovca Mountain pasture.
