One of the easiest snowshoeing trails in the Soča Region presents the Zadnja Trenta Valley in all its glory. When it is already spring in the lower part of the valley, this trail still offers excellent conditions for snowshoeing. You will not only be rewarded by splendid views of the surrounding mountains but also of the ice-covered Zapotok Waterfalls in the gable end of the valley.
Author’s recommendation
Even though the road is usually ploughed to the last ramp we recommend you to park your vehicle at the parking lot at the source of the Soča River.

Safety information
The trail is completely safe, however, during the spring months you still have to watch out for the avalanches coming from the walls of Mt. Trentski Pelc (left side of the valley). The access to the waterfalls is sometimes also prevented by the high level of water or iced-over riverbed.
Tips, hints and links
Access from the village of Trenta to the parking lot at the source of the Soča River might be impossible immediately after the snowfall because this road is the last in line to be ploughed. There are no catering facilities along the trail which is why you have to bring knapsack drink and food.

Turn-by-turn directions
Visitors usually park their vehicles at the ploughed parking lot next to the cottage at the source of the Soča River. If the following section of the gravel road into the valley is ploughed to the extent which prevents snowshoeing (early spring) you can drive to the end of the road (ramp) where you start snowshoeing. From here, the trail leads along the dry and narrow riverbed without excessive ascents and gradually ascends towards the gable end of the valley. If you would accidentally leave the marked trail you would still be able to find your way by following the smooth riverbed of the stream which provides comfortable walking. At the end of the valley, the direct view of the ice-covered waterfall can be prevented by the water of the stream. The waterfall is located behind a small river bend. You return along the same way you came from or by meandering along the riverbed towards the starting point at the ramp and further to the parting lot next to the cottage. In case of large amounts of snow, we recommend the last version because you can expect bent-over or fallen trees along the trail through the forest.
