The village of Livek, the place between here and there – between the Slavonic and the Roman, between the Alpine and the Mediterranean area, between the Soča and the Nadiža River Basins. Between Mt. Kolovrat (1243 m) and Mt. Matajur (1642 m) you can find the following villages: Livek, Golobi, Šturmi, Plohi, Piki, Perati, Avsa, Jevšček and Livške Ravne.

The name Livek (local pronunciation Liwk; Italian name Luico; Latin name Livischia) defines a funnel-like area. In the ancient past, this area was carved by large riversand glaciers. Along the Livek Themed Trail you can experiencestories about:
- the intact nature and its creation (lush forests, old trees, herbs, grasses and meadows, domestic and wild animals, traces of glaciers and ancient rivers),
- 500-year-old history of war and peace (boundary stone in the village of Golobi and on Mt. Kolovrat, remnants of the Isonzo front in the village of Jevšček and on Mt. Kolovrat) and coexistence of the villagers of Livek with the Venetian Slovenians,
- camps of Erwin Rommel at the Brgolič Homestead,
- churches (Church of St. Peter in the village of Perati, Church of St. Jacob in the village of Livek),
- ethnology (Nježna House, water reservoirs, large woven carrying basket, hay barn, local mashed potato dish),
- myths and legends (Livek Lake, wild women with feet turned backwards),
- village culture, sports and a hundred-year-old history of skiing in the village of Livek,
- people with animal or tree surnames.
